Twas the night before fishing season and all through the house! Yes folks this weekend is the season opener and we’ve got some reports to share!
Read the report and listen to the podcast!
John of John’s Bait & Tackle, Bellefonte PA says that if the action at Spring Creek is any indicator of how things are shaping up for this weekend then we should be in for a great opening day. John reported that trout are hitting on a variety of baits. Wax worms and minnows are producing great results for fisherman on Spring Creek. In-line spinners are catching some good fish as well.
John also reported that the fishing at Sayers Dam, Bald Eagle State Park is improving rapidly. Fisherman are reporting good catches of crappie and perch on the lake. Minnows get the nod as the best bait but crappie are also taking wax worms fished under bobbers. The spillway of the dam is also producing good catches of crappie on minnows. Some walleye are being caught but the season is currently closed until May 6, 2006
Bald Eagle Creek should produce some great catches even with the low water. Due to last nights rains, the water level is up a little which will help the fishing on Saturday. Sections of the stream were float stocked so many area’s of the creek will produce fish. That being said, certainly don’t pass up the opportunity to visit any one of the area streams. You’ll get a great dose of fishing and an opportunity to enjoy some beautiful scenery.
