Kettle Creek smallmouth bass, fast and furious action!

My fishing buddies and I experience two hours of fast paced action on Kettle creek today. We only fished for two hours smack dab in the middle of the day but landed 22 smallmouth bass. This is a catch rate of one smallmouth every six minutes! Low water had the fish stacked up in the holes. We only fished about 150 yards of the stream to catch these fish. Most smallies were in the 12 inch range. The largest two fish were 13 inches each. Shade was the key today!
Time
1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
Weather Conditions
Sunny with air temps in high 80’s.
Water Conditions
Water temps seemed to be in the mid to low 80’s
Pattern
Can you say SHADE? Shade was the primary factor that helped us catch fish. Spots that combined “deeper” water with shad were the best although we caught fish in less than two feet of water. We fished anything that created shade; fallen timber, rock ledges, and the shade created by stream side trees were are primary targets. Baits
Yum Dinger and Yum crawfish were top producers today. The fish all had fat bellies and were full of crayfish. Baits were texposed and fished with no weight.
