I was recently reading a fishing biologist report on the Pennsylvania Fish Commission’s web site. The report described a recent fish sampling conducted on the Allegheny River, Pennsylvania. The report is fairly encouraging given recent concern about some our Pennsylvania smallmouth bass fisheries. There was also a couple of pictures of a monster walleye and musky caught during the survey!

I recently read a small biologist report concerning wild brook trout streams in north eastern PA. This subject is near and dear to my heart as I grew up literally a stones throw from a limestone steam with a good population of wild brookies. The report gave a summery of a recent trout survey on Kistler Run, Wolf Swamp Run, and Jean’s Run.
