Wild brook trout stream in north eastern Pennsylvania

I recently read a small biologist report concerning wild brook trout streams in north eastern PA. This subject is near and dear to my heart as I grew up literally a stones throw from a limestone steam with a good population of wild brookies. The report gave a summery of a recent trout survey on Kistler Run, Wolf Swamp Run, and Jean’s Run.
I’m not sure that you can really “generalize” this survey as an indicator of the health of all Pennsylvania managed under the wild brook trout enhancement program but I did find the data and report to be very interesting. If nothing else it is a small “snap shot” of how a streams population of trout can shift from year to year. Only three years of data has been collected thus far but two more years of data will be collected. The data will span approximately 10 years.
I don’t think we can draw any significant conclusions from this study. What I think may be most useful about the data is that it provides a base line of health that could be used to “test” the health of the stream in the future.
