Little Juniata Fishing Smallmouth Bass Report

A few hours on the water today yielded a few bass. My fishing buddy and I caught a combined total of twelve smallmouth bass. All the fish were caught on a combination of soft crawfish imitations and Yum Dingers. The bite was very light today for some reason and I missed almost as many fish as I hooked up with. I threw together a very brief video clip of a couple of the fish we caught.
General Comments
Most fish today were in the 10-12 inch range. We couldn’t cath anything over 13 inches. As mentioned, the bite was very light today. I tried a couple of different rigs but nothing seemed to solve the problem. Tried wacky rigging it and even switched from a simple bent shank work hook to an EWG model made by Gamakatsu. I guess there are just days whent the fish just aint working as hard to eat their prey.
Water Conditions
Water was very warm. I saw many bluegill on spawning beds.
Weather Conditions
Sunny Clear Sky’s.
Baits
Yum Dingers were the best baits with soft crawfish being the second most effective lure.
Pattern
The fish were definitely favoring deeper pools today. We tried casting up against the bank and the shallow water at the heads of pool but that bore little fruit. The smallmouth wanted to be deep today.
