Juniata River Fishing Report- November

1108081413aOnce again, I had another fishing excursion with good numbers of fish to report. I fished for 3 hours this afternoon and caught 41 total smallmouth bass. The vast majority of the smallmouth were between 14 and 16 inches. Nice solid fat fish. They are definitely putting on the feedbag for winter and starting to get a little chunky. If you find my last few reports unbelievable then you will definitely want to read on. I saw something today that I have NEVER seen in my almost 40 years as an outdoorsmen. Cool thing is..I have pictures to prove it!

1108081705Ok, first the unbelievable. Now I’ve seen a lot of animals swim across the rive over the years. I’ve seen deer take a swim. I had a bear swim within 10 feet of me one time. I’ve seen mice swimming across the river as well…but I’ve never seen a squirrel swim across a river before! Now, common sense tells me they probably do once in a while however when you see it happen, you definitely are taken back! The picture is a little fuzzy because I took it with my cell phone but the squirrel is easy to distinguish. All the while, I was wondering when a big musky was going to take bite out of the little guy. This actually gave me an idea for a new musky lure! Now for the report…
