Juniata River Fishing Report, almost December and still catching smallies!

1129080727With a warming trend and cold weather due tomorrow, I headed out to try my luck in the Juniata River. Not a banner day by and stretch of the imagination but considering the water temperatures are now at a balmy 38 degrees, I was happy to land a few fat smallmouth in 5 hours of fishing. I definitely worked for it today! I know the pictures are getting a little redundant but I couldn’t find anyone else willing to stand for hours in the 38 degree water today. I had to take the pic myself with my cell phone!

Comments on Patterns

Fish caught were vary shallow 3-4 feet deep. Fish were holding in current breaks created by “ledges” The Huskey Jerk size 8 accounted for two of the smallmouth today. I worked the HJ with the normal jerk-jerk-…looong pause. The Yum Dinger accounted for the third fish. The Dinger was wakey rigged.
